How long have you been in your industry?15 years
Why did you choose your industry?I am a life-long boater. I was raised on the water by professional water skiers, so boating is quite literally in my DNA. I love introducing families into the world of boating and getting them onto the water where they can grow together and make memories that last a lifetime.
Who are your typical clients?Local, young families and retirees.
What do you like best about being in this industry?Getting to merge my passion with my career. I also love experiencing the joy of boating with families.
What are common problems you see?Barriers to entry such as time and cost. Many people avoid boating because they do not have the time or money to boat. However, Freedom Boat Club makes boating more affordable and takes away all the hassles of ownership so members can spend more time on the water.
What advice/tips do you have for clients?Have fun and be safe. We train everyone so they are comfortable enough at the helm to be confident and really enjoy themselves. We want everyone to enjoy their time on the water, and safety is at the forefront of every decision we make.
When is your busy season?Spring - Fall
What keeps you up at night? How can we do better? I am always seeking ways to improve and make the ultimate membership experience event greater.
How do you market yourself to grow/expand your business?Networking and being a part of the community. Getting involved with the Jacksonville chamber and other local organizations with likeminded goals.
How involved are you in the community? We have hosted organizations like Big Brothers and Big Sisters and See the Girl. We are also active members of the Jacksonville and St. Johns Chamber. We have donated to charities like Captain Sandy's Charities and Shake a Leg.
What is your favorite not for profit or charity?Jacksonville Humane Society or St. Johns Riverkeeper
What advice would you give to someone thinking of getting into this business? If you are patient and hardworking, it is unlike anything else.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?BOATING
